About me
My story
My artistic journey began early, shaped by the creative influences of my family. My grandfather was a judge in Greece, but his passion was painting, especially landscape and still life painting. My father, a talented draftsman, worked as a lecturer at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich. He was a primary architect, but art was always an important part of his life.
As a teenager I was allowed to use my father's professional camera. My passion for photography led me to take part in exhibitions as a child. During my teenage years I made my first prints by hand and worked in the darkroom. But during high school I lost focus on art.
The turn
After graduating from high school, it did not seem appropriate in my family to pursue an artistic career. Instead, I chose a more conservative path and began studying law. I became a lawyer and worked successfully in this profession. Art took a back seat,
although I still enjoyed taking photographs, but without the artistic ambition.
But in 2016 everything changed. I realized that my professional path did not correspond to my dream. So I decided to devote myself completely to artistic photography. In 2018 I held my first exhibition with landscape photographs from the Kitzbühel Alps. This took place in Lehmberg Castle in Kitzbühel and laid the foundation for my artistic work.
Photography and painting
Since 2019, I have been painting in addition to my photographic work. Painting gives me the freedom to express my creativity in even more diverse ways and to give my emotions a stage. In my abstract paintings, the focus is on emotion, while photography captures the beauty of what is there.
In my art, the colors and shapes that come from within meet the beauty I see in the world. Emotions play a central role in both mediums. What we see and how we experience it depends greatly on our feelings. My art is intended to make these emotions visible and show others the beauty I see.
How I work
Most of the time I use the Fujifilm gfx50s medium format camera . Its high resolution photos allow me to capture the subjects with the deep image data I need to edit the photo to reflect what I saw in the moment I took the photo.
Some other artworks are based on pictures I took on the fly with my iPhone.
